This is a page dedicated to two of the best actors to ever don a Jedi cloak
- Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson.
(Mark
Hammil never wore a cloak.)
First
of all, if you found this page through something other than starwars.com,
you have to visit that site.
It
is a wonderful source of information, pictures, etc on all of the Star
Wars movies. In fact many of the pictures on this site have come
from the archives.
Back Story
Ok,
a little about why I made this site.
I
was born in March 1977, only a few months before A New Hope came
out in theatres. My brother, who was 4, saw it 8 times in the theatres.
So, needless to say, Star Wars has been a part of my life since
birth.
When
Empire
came out, my brother got many of the toys for Christmas, and although I
was only three, he let me play with the Snow walker.
Ok,
enough with the mushy stuff.
Ewan
McGregor
(aka
Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Ewan McGregor is a wonderful actor. He also
has some history with the Star Wars saga - for those of you who have not
been reading any info on the actors, he is the nephew of Denis Lawson who
played Wedge in the original trilogy.
The Phantom Menace is not his first foray
into film. He has also been in Emma, Trainspotting, Shallow Grave,
A Life Less Ordinary, Nightwatch, and most recently, Eye of
the Beholder.
If you want more information on the character
of Obi-Wan, you should read the Jedi Apprentice series of children's
novels. It is the adventures of Obi-Wan when he was first chosen
by Qui-Gon to be a padawan at the age of 13. Granted they are children's
books, but they are very enjoyable, and well worth reading.
Liam Neeson
(aka Qui-Gon Jinn)
Liam Neeson
is a great actor who had been around for many years. He made his big breakthrough
in the film Schindler's List. He has stated that he took a paycut
to appear in The Phantom Menace.
Mr. Neeson
has also appeared in the films Rob Roy, Michael Collins, The Haunting,
Gun Shy, and The Mission.
The last film
on that list was one of his first films. It is interesting because
his role as a newly ordained Jesuit priest in South America during the
1700s kind of mirrors the character of Obi-Wan in this film. Neeson
is under the tutelage of a wiser and more experienced priest played by
Jeremy Irons.
This film
is a must see for any Liam Neeson fan.
Sounds
The
'famous' Star Wars line about feelings.
Obi
Wan's scream when Qui-Gon is killed. (not a clean copy, but ok)
I love Obi
Wan's reactions to the 'tagalongs' Qui Gon picks up :)
Jar

Anakin
There is much more to come so please come back again.
